This Friday and Saturday September 17-18, 2010, members of the St. Peter Schola Cantorum will attend a Gregorian Chant Workshop at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, WI. The workshop, which is sponsored by the Diocese of La Crosse and the Shrine, will be led by internationally-renowned chant expert and presenter Scott Turkington. Turkington is a director of the Church Music Association of America, the CMAA hosts an annual sacred music colloquium which St. Peter's schola members have attended in the past. By attending the chant workshop, schola members hope to increase their ability to read the "square notes" of Gregorian chant and to sing more perfectly the official music of the Catholic Church's liturgy.
